Cougar Town Set!

I’m a big fan of tv sets.

I often loose focus in the show because i’m too busy looking at the art on the walls and furniture…and the dishes…

and yea.

ALL THAT.

One of my favorite all time tv sets is Courtney Cox’s show Cougar Town.

I already want to live in Florida.

Or pretty much anywhere where there is NO SNOW.

Sooo I basically almost died when I saw her beachy home:

I mean hello!?

That coral couch is so grandma but gorgeous.

What really got me was that beautiful painting on the wall.

After much, much (and i mean MUCH) scouring the web for any information on the artist I discovered through this blog that it sits happily sadly in a prop house when not on set filming.

AND it’s completely unsigned.

Oh my heart!

It’s from the 1950’s and sigh cry stomp I will never own it.

An art print does not even exist.

So I did what anyone else crazy would do.

I made my own tiny mini version on the computer.

I should have taken the time to paint it on canvas - and I probably will at a later date - but for now…this will do:

The lines are completely wobbly and the shapes are all wonky but I don’t care one bit.

I love it.

I cannot wait to get a tacky gold frame for it and hang it up!

It’s the little things.

A deer and a Lego.

Our Halloween was super.

I was a deer. *Although no one could tell that’s what i was!?

My son was a Lego Man.

Here are some photos… if you’re into that sorta thing.

Deer Make-Up with sticks as Antlers and floral headband. Tutorial can be found here: Deer Make-Up

Front of Lego Man: body made from cardboard box and painted to look like his favorite Lego Man. head is made from two foam wreathes and poster board spray painted yellow. (no tutorial link as I kinda used bits and pieces from pinterest and made it my own! but there are plenty on the web for next Halloween!)

…and the back. Watching him walk in this was pretty fantastic.

Pinterest was a terrible invention.

I just spend an hour of my life looking at “Halloween Doors”…

and another hour making mine happen.

That’s sixty minutes of hunting down supplies buried in my studio.

Sixty minutes of cutting, taping and gluing.

Sixty minutes of scouring EVERY. SINGLE. BOX. I. OWN. to try and track down googly eyes for the little spiders because (dammit) I am a perfectionist and they could not just have stupid flat eyes.

Sixty minutes of guzzling water and wiping sweat from my brow- ok, not really. But it was close.

Gone are the days of plain doors with an occasional black wreath thrown on a removable hook…

Now I HAVE TO, seriously HAVE TO, create some kind of Halloween masterpiece in case…I dunno…The Halloween Police show up at my door?

It’s not like I’m having a party.

Honestly I don’t even know if we’ll have one kid in a costume show up for candy.

I left a bowl out last year with an entire “scary witch” theme and not one piece was gone…

But…

Tonight my son’s little eyes lit up when he saw the door and I kid you not he said matter-of-factly “Mom. You’ve outdone yourself.”

He’s six.

He’s perfect.

Between the Halloween door and his fancy little lunches in a bento box with pumpkin shaped cheese (don’t ask) I’m pretty sure he thinks Pinterest is freaking fantastic.

i’m loving this today. can’t always help those who don’t want it and sometimes you just gotta keep your mouth zipped up nice and tight…even if it’s someone you super care about.

My favorite vintage mug.
It says 1988 on it.
Makes me feel crazy old because it’s vintage and i was alive and playing with barbies and collecting plastic charms for bracelets and necklaces…
Which means i’m vintage too.
That’s a gross thought really.
But…
It’s the perfect coffee cup for a friday!
I love you Friday.
Like a whole whole lot.

The little guy is working on his kindergarten valentines today.

Instead of trying to outwit other crafty moms and make valentines by hand this year I strolled over to tinyprints.com and ordered them!

They arrived and I swear I giggled and gushed over how cute they were for a half hour.

They are tiny.

And precious.

We are, of course, tying them to a pencil so the kids can do the maze.

Serious love right there.

Go order some.
